FAQ
Quick answers about what this site is — and what it isn’t.
- What is Calc My Car?
- A set of private worksheets to model a lease (and estimate a simple purchase loan) so you can compare numbers before you sign. It doesn’t replace a lender’s or dealer’s disclosure.
- Is this a bank, a dealer, or a credit offer?
- No. There’s no lending, no vehicle ordering, and no rate lock. The lease flow prints a dealer-style illustration for your own files, not a binding contract.
- Why don’t my numbers match the dealer’s exact payment?
- Taxes, fees, rebates, and lender rules vary by state and program. Use your actual quote or signed lease/loan to verify every line.
- Where do I get a lease residual or money factor?
- From a real quote (or the lender’s program). Residuals are not available from a single free public API for every car and term — the calculator is built for you to type what’s on paper.
- Is the buy calculator a loan application?
- No. It’s a standard amortized payment estimate. Add-ons, tiered credit, and odd-day interest from your bank may differ.
- Is this tax or legal advice?
- No. For how taxes apply to you, or for contract questions, ask a qualified professional in your state.
- Do you store my data?
- This version runs in your browser as a static page. Nothing is sent to a Calc My Car server for the tools themselves. If you use print/PDF, that happens on your device.
